.001 in our new cassette series, the Unrock Raw Edits Series, features the extraodinairy talents of  Sunn Trio from Phoenix, Arizona… doubtless one of the hottest spectacles around in lame ass underground.

When Sunn Trio came to Europe first in autumn of 2019, they played a number of trio shows, as well at London’s Cafe Oto. It was so much appreciated that they asked the band to return to London only one month later to perform as well their gamelan style show. Shortly after their return to Phoenix they played it live at their hometurf too. Here is the recording…… Side B of the cassette shows their virtuous ability to show so many different faces. „Love Letter From Jakarta“ is a driven jazzy tune in an  orchestra mode . Maybe their best song to date…..you find influences not only of Sun Ra, 60ties british Jazz-Rock , Sun City Girls and Karkhana at once. The song is in my head since I heard it the first time. „Start & Stop“ shows Joel Robinson and the band as noise rockers and the title says it all. „Ifni“ may be the most challenging thing you’ve heard in a long time. Imagine arriving in Calcutta coming from the Western Lands taking a seat in a Riksha….the riksha starts of driving  with a groundspeed of 120 miles through the streets of Calcutta while you have the wrong very hot curry in your belly…….that’s the picture.
